Support & Care

Keep your IntelliBrella™ clear, functional and ready for protection. Proper use and care help preserve the appearance, performance and lifespan of the product.

Follow the instructions supplied with your specific model. Product features, materials and care requirements may vary between versions.

Before First Use

Before using IntelliBrella™ for the first time:

  • Remove all packaging materials carefully
  • Inspect the canopy, frame, ribs, shaft and handle
  • Confirm that the umbrella opens and closes smoothly
  • Check the clear canopy for punctures, deep scratches, separation or manufacturing damage
  • Review all safety warnings and product instructions
  • Keep your proof of purchase for warranty or support requests

Do not use the umbrella if any structural component appears loose, bent, cracked or damaged.

Contact IntelliBrella™ Support before use if you believe the product arrived defective.

Opening Your IntelliBrella™

Move to an open area before opening the umbrella.

Keep the canopy pointed away from your face and away from other people.

To open:

  • Release the fastening strap
  • Gently shake the folded canopy loose if necessary
  • Hold the handle securely
  • Slide the opening mechanism upward until the umbrella locks fully into place
  • Confirm that all ribs are extended correctly and the canopy is evenly supported

Do not force the mechanism if it feels blocked.

Close the umbrella and inspect it for folded material, twisted ribs or trapped objects before trying again.

Closing Your IntelliBrella™

To close:

  • Move to a clear area
  • Hold the shaft and handle securely
  • Release the closing mechanism according to the instructions for your model
  • Allow the canopy to collapse naturally
  • Arrange the canopy panels gently around the shaft
  • Secure the fastening strap without pulling it excessively tight

Do not twist, crush or sharply fold the clear canopy.

Repeated hard creasing may affect its appearance and could damage the protective material.

Proper Positioning for Sun Protection

Position the canopy between the sun and the area of the body you want to shade.

The sun changes position throughout the day, so IntelliBrella™ may need to be tilted or repositioned to maintain effective coverage.

For best results:

  • Stay within the canopy’s shaded area
  • Reposition the umbrella as the sun angle changes
  • Pay attention to exposure near the edges of the canopy
  • Consider reflected ultraviolet radiation from nearby surfaces
  • Use additional sun-protection measures when conditions require them

IntelliBrella™ reduces exposure through its covered area but does not create a completely ultraviolet-free environment.

UV radiation may still reach the user from open sides, changing angles and reflections from water, sand, snow, concrete, glass and other surfaces.

Cleaning the Clear Canopy

Clean the canopy regularly to preserve visibility and appearance.

Use:

  • Lukewarm water
  • A soft microfibre cloth
  • A non-abrasive sponge
  • A small amount of mild soap, when necessary

Gently wipe the canopy without applying excessive pressure.

Rinse away any soap residue and allow the umbrella to dry fully while open in a safe, shaded and ventilated area.

Do not use

Avoid:

  • Bleach
  • Ammonia
  • Acetone
  • Alcohol-based cleaners unless specifically approved
  • Solvents
  • Abrasive powders
  • Scouring pads
  • Hard-bristle brushes
  • Automotive polish
  • Adhesive removers
  • Unapproved protective coatings

Harsh chemicals and abrasive tools may cloud, scratch, weaken or alter the protective canopy material.

Before using any cleaner, test a small, less-visible area.

Removing Salt, Sand and Debris

After use near a beach, pool or dusty environment:

  • Gently shake away loose debris
  • Rinse the canopy and frame with clean water
  • Avoid rubbing sand across the clear surface
  • Wipe gently with a soft cloth
  • Leave the umbrella open until completely dry

Salt, sand and mineral deposits may damage moving parts or scratch the canopy if allowed to build up.

Drying After Rain

Do not store IntelliBrella™ while it is wet.

After use in rain:

  • Open the umbrella in a safe, ventilated location
  • Allow the canopy and frame to dry completely
  • Wipe the shaft and metal components with a soft cloth
  • Confirm that no moisture remains trapped in canopy folds
  • Close and store the umbrella only when fully dry

Storing a wet umbrella may contribute to odour, staining, corrosion or material deterioration.

Storage

Store IntelliBrella™:

  • In a cool, dry place
  • Away from direct sunlight when not in use
  • Away from extreme heat
  • Away from sharp objects
  • Away from heavy items that could crush the canopy or frame
  • In its protective sleeve, when provided

Do not leave IntelliBrella™ for extended periods inside a hot vehicle or near heaters, radiators or other high-temperature surfaces.

Do not place heavy objects on top of the umbrella.

Avoid long-term storage with the canopy sharply folded or compressed.

Protecting the Clear Canopy

The transparent canopy requires different care than traditional woven umbrella fabric.

To reduce scratching and clouding:

  • Do not place the canopy directly on rough surfaces
  • Keep it away from keys, tools and sharp objects
  • Do not drag it across pavement or concrete
  • Avoid applying stickers or adhesives
  • Do not paint, coat, puncture or modify the canopy
  • Do not scrape away residue with metal or hard plastic tools

Light surface marks may occur through ordinary use and may not affect product performance. Deep scratches, cracks, punctures or material separation should be evaluated before continued use.

Wind and Severe Weather

No umbrella is completely windproof.

Do not use IntelliBrella™ in:

  • High winds
  • Severe storms
  • Thunderstorms
  • Lightning conditions
  • Tornado warnings
  • Conditions where the umbrella becomes difficult to control

If the canopy begins to invert, pull strongly or become unstable, close it immediately and move to a safe location.

Do not attempt to force an inverted umbrella back into shape while it is exposed to strong wind.

Wind damage may not be covered by the limited warranty.

Lightning and Electrical Safety

Do not use IntelliBrella™ during thunderstorms.

Keep the umbrella away from:

  • Lightning
  • Overhead power lines
  • Electrical substations
  • Exposed wiring
  • Construction equipment
  • Electrified rail systems
  • Other electrical hazards

Seek appropriate enclosed shelter during dangerous weather.

Heat Safety

IntelliBrella™ is designed to provide shade and reduce direct ultraviolet exposure within its coverage area. It is not designed to prevent heat exhaustion, heat stroke or dehydration.

During hot weather:

  • Drink water regularly
  • Take breaks in cool or air-conditioned spaces
  • Avoid prolonged activity during extreme heat
  • Wear suitable clothing
  • Watch for symptoms of heat illness
  • Follow public-health heat warnings

Seek urgent medical attention for symptoms such as confusion, fainting, severe weakness or loss of consciousness.

Children and Supervised Use

Children should use IntelliBrella™ only under appropriate adult supervision.

Adults should:

  • Open and close the umbrella when necessary
  • Keep fingers away from moving parts
  • Monitor changing weather
  • Ensure the child remains within the shaded area
  • Prevent running or playing with the umbrella
  • Store the product safely when not in use

The umbrella should never be used as a toy, weapon, climbing aid or walking stick.

Inspection and Maintenance

Inspect IntelliBrella™ periodically and after strong wind, impact or accidental drops.

Check for:

  • Bent or broken ribs
  • Loose joints
  • Cracks in the handle
  • Damage to the opening mechanism
  • Punctures or tears
  • Canopy separation
  • Deep scratches
  • Loose end caps
  • Corrosion
  • Difficulty opening or closing
  • Unusual movement or instability

Stop using the product if structural damage may affect safe operation.

Do not attempt to straighten, glue, heat, drill or modify structural components unless instructed by IntelliBrella™ Support.

When to Stop Using IntelliBrella™

Stop using the umbrella and contact support if:

  • The canopy is punctured, torn or separating
  • A rib or support component is broken
  • The shaft is bent
  • The opening mechanism no longer locks securely
  • The handle is cracked or loose
  • The umbrella opens unexpectedly
  • The canopy has become severely clouded, brittle or distorted
  • The product has been exposed to chemicals that may have damaged the material
  • You are uncertain whether the product remains safe or effective

A visibly damaged product should not be assumed to maintain its original protective performance.
